butcher, baker, greeting card maker

In May, Travis took a break from his journey up the Appalachian Trail and shared with us a delicacy that he and Anne had discovered at a trailside diner: Kool-Aid pie. Sounds crazy, right? Wrong. It’s not crazy, it’s delicious. Creamy, fruity, lighter than you’d think, Kool-Aid pie immediately became a barbecue staple. After some extreme experimentation (a tripple layer strawberry-grape-black cherry filling seemed like a good idea at the time) I discovered that lemonade flavor works the best.

I don’t usually bother with posting recipes (if you want one bad enough you can just ask for it), but this gem is so simple I can’t keep it to myself. Take a packet of Kool-Aid powder, any flavor you want, and mix it with a 14 oz. can of sweetened condensed milk and a whole container of cool whip (give the spatula to someone special). Plop the filling in a graham cracker crust, chill for 15 minutes and devour.
